DLC 25th Anniversary Gala

 DeNeuville Learning Center for Women (DLC) celebrates 25 years of empowering women and families through education with an elegant gala on Thursday, April 27, 2023. To celebrate and honor the over 5000 students who were born in 56 countries represented by DLC students, this year’s theme is Around the World. All funds raised will go to continuing the DLC mission to improve the lives of women through education and community.

“Over 70% of families living in poverty are headed by single mothers. More than 85% of our students are mothers and over half are single,” said DLC Board Co-Chair Delaine Smith of International Paper. “The majority come to us as ‘unemployable’ and their average family income is below federal poverty level. The programs we offer improve not only the lives of our adult female students, but also their children and families.”

Emceed by Alex Boggs of Huey’s Restaurants, the Around the World Gala will be held at The Club at TPC Southwind from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The upscale affair will feature dinner, drinks, a silent auction, and addresses from several Memphis leaders. The featured guest speaker of the evening is John Carroll with City Leadership. The 2023 Honorary Chair of the event is Angela Trillo, Corporate Employee Banking and Investment Relationship Manager Officer at Bank of America and the President of the Mid-South Latino Chamber of Commerce. 

“I’m delighted to be a part of the celebration,” Trillo said. “DeNeuville’s mission to empower women through education and community support is a cause that is near and dear to my heart. When a mother is educated, her children have higher rates of graduation and have better chances of success in life.”
